What this Graphic Organizer demonstrates is that throughout the course of K-12 the understanding of "Organisms" change in difficulty. It starts off by identifying both biotic and abiotic organisms, and by the end of elementary they are expected to identify and distinguish an organism and its environment. In middle school, they are expected to evaluate and understand the interdependency of organisms along with the role of its environment. In high school, students will learn more about the world surrounding organisms, both single and multi-celled. Students will learn how organisms are effected by physical factors and what they do to survive the ever-changing world.
