A50 Without Title

In the past you drove by car from village to village on the provincial road, straight through the center of each place. But this came to an end in 2003 with the construction of a national motorway that also contributed to the opening up of Uden. To celebrate this, Antoon Versteegde was asked to make a bamboo installation in collaboration with the local population. The letters U-D-E-N were 12 meters high to draw the attention of passing traffic to the beautiful village behind the new noise barrier.

Vroeger reed je met de auto van dorp naar dorp over de provinciale weg, dwars door het centrum van elke plaats. Maar in 2003 kwam daar een einde aan door de aanleg van een nationale autosnelweg die ook een bijdrage leverde aan de ontsluiting van Uden. Om dit te vieren werd aan Antoon Versteegde gevraagd een bamboe installatie te maken in samenwerking met de lokale bevolking. Het werden 12 meter hoge letters U-D-E-N om hel langsrijdende verkeer te attenderen op het mooie dorp achter de nieuwe geluidswal.
