Welcome to the online home of the Versailles Rural Fire Protection District. We are a property and sales tax funded fire protection district that serves 117 square miles surrounding Versailles, Missouri in rural Morgan County. We cover a mix of agriculture, commercial, retail and residential areas. We operate out of 3 stations with 15 apparatus and 45 all volunteer personnel. We provide fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services in coordination with Mid-Mo Ambulance District and our great mutual aid neighbors.

July 29th 2026- At the monthy Versailles Rural Fire District Board of Directors meeting, Chief Towles presented the Board with recommendations for officer promotions which the Board unanimously approved. These promotions take effect August 1st 2026.
The following are the promotions with their new radio numbers:
Fire Fighter Kris Leinbach promoted to Lieutenant, 6109
Fire Fighter Brian Martin promoted to Lieutenant, 6108
Lieutenant Jeffery Shirk promoted to Captain, 6104
Lieutenant Travis Zimmerman promoted to Captain, 6106
Battalion Chief Matthew Jones promoted to Assistance Chief, 6102

Structure Fire in Fortuna July 27th
Mutual aid response to Fortuna Fire District for a fully involved structure fire. Our response included Ladder 11, Utility 11 and 8 firefighters. Fire suppression was hampered by temperatures in the mid-high 90's. Tipton City FD, Tipton Rural FD and California City FD also responded to assist.
Safety message: N/A in this situation as it was an abandoned structure.
Have working smoke detectors, a family escape plan with a meeting place and do not go back into a burning house for any reason.
House Collapse on Hwy D July 4
Crews working on extricating a patient from this collapsed house after a wind event. Patient had only minor injuries.

Check the trees around your house for age/condition and if you have any trees down, watch for powerlines caught in them. NEVER get close to down power lines EVER! They can re-energize without warning.

Be careful with outdoor fires close to anything you don't want to burn.
