Through the DoD STEM grant, we were able to take a group of students to the BEYA Becoming Everything You Are (otherwise known as the Black Engineer of the Year Award) Conference.
As an educator, I had the privilege of witnessing these students step into an environment where their identities were not only acknowledged but celebrated. The conference offered a unique platform for them to engage with accomplished professionals who shared their experiences, wisdom, and paths to success. Seeing the students absorb these insights and engage in meaningful conversations highlighted the importance of representation in inspiring and guiding young minds. The conference experience not only expanded their knowledge and aspirations but also solidified their sense of belonging and potential within their chosen fields. As an educator, it was a humbling reminder of the impact that intentional and inclusive opportunities can have on shaping the trajectory of students' lives, and I am honored to have been part of this transformative journey
Representation Matters!
