Resources: This course will mostly follow the course of Navid Nabijou, for which you can find notes typed by Cat Rust. The two text we will refer to are Cox-Little-Schenck, Toric Varieties and Fulton, Introduction to toric varieties. Lecture notes will be uploaded on moodle.
Lecture 1 : Introduction to the course. First definitions: algebraic tori, toric varieties, character/cocharacter lattices.
Lecture 2: Cones and Fans
Lecture 3: Affine Toric Varieties
Lecture 4: Affine Toric Varieties and affine semigroups. Normal toric varieties.
Lecture 5: Normal toric varieties (continue). Smoothness of affine toric varieties.
