My project management journey began through the Student Energy Guided Projects between 2022 and 2023, where my teammates and I were deeply moved by the challenges faced at Gachororo Primary School. The school, which serves over 2,000 learners across pre-primary, primary, and junior secondary levels, struggled with frequent power outages and high electricity costs. Reliable power was essential not only for learning but also for running school devices and supporting daily operations.
Many children arrived at the community school as early as 6:00 a.m., often in darkness. During power outages, they relied on torches and candles to study, creating both safety risks and barriers to effective learning. Seeing this reality motivated us to act.
Through the project, we successfully installed a 5 kWp solar system with 5 kWh energy storage, providing reliable electricity that improved security, enabled continuous learning, and created a brighter environment for students and teachers alike.
This achievement was made possible through the dedication of our Project Lead, Ambrose Michura, alongside team members Mariko Ogutu, Claire Adede, Benrogers Mukala, and myself. We are also deeply grateful to Student Energy for their generous CAD $10,000 award and continued guidance throughout the project journey.

My project management journey has continued at Soldier Fly Diverse Limited, where I serve as the Communications and Projects Director. Through our work, the organization was awarded Ksh 1.8 million worth of equipment and capacity-building support under the Youth In Sustainable Aquaculture Program’s Challenge Fund, an initiative aimed at strengthening Black Soldier Fly production for the aquaculture sector through one of the Partner's Hydro VictoriaHydro Victoria.
As a result of this support, we have created 25 new jobs and expanded the adoption of Black Soldier Fly farming to over 3,000 farmers across 16 counties in Kenya, of whom 75% are women. The project also accelerated innovation within the organization, leading to the development of key technologies including a solar drying system and the Feed Freedom Station, both designed to improve feed accessibility, reduce post-harvest losses, and support scalable, community-based production systems. The oil from the Black Soldier Fly larvae is now being used as a feed additve and cosmetic purposes.
