1. Overview & Offline Architecture

VeloPlay is designed as a standalone, offline, on-device local video player and media manager.

• We do not collect, store, transmit, upload, or sell your personal files, videos, or multimedia content to any remote server or third party.

• All playback processing, thumbnail generation, folder indexing, and media decodings are performed 100% locally on your device.

2. Device Permissions & Why We Need Them

To deliver full video player functionality, VeloPlay requests the following permissions strictly in accordance with Google Play Developer policies:

• READ_MEDIA_VIDEO (Android 13+ / API 33+):
  Used solely to scan, index, and display video files stored locally on your device so you can browse folders and play your videos.

• READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below):
  Used exclusively on legacy Android versions to access local storage for reading video files and external subtitle files (.srt/.vtt) selected by the user.

• WAKE_LOCK:
  Used solely to keep the screen awake during active video playback according to your player settings.

• POST_NOTIFICATIONS / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK:
  Used to display standard media controls in the system notification shade when video or audio playback continues in the background or Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode.

Important Note: None of these permissions are used to upload, spy on, or collect your files. Access is limited strictly to local playback.

3. Data Collection and Usage

• Personal Data: We do not require user accounts, logins, phone numbers, or email addresses to use the app.

• Media Files & Thumbnails: Video files and thumbnails generated from them never leave your device.

• User Preferences & Playback History: Playback bookmarks (resume points), favorites, and playback settings are saved locally in a secure on-device SQLite database. You can clear this history anytime within the app settings.

4. Third-Party Services & Analytics

VeloPlay does not integrate third-party advertising trackers, data brokers, or personal profiling SDKs. We do not sell or share any user data with external companies or advertisers.

5. Children's Privacy

VeloPlay complies with all applicable privacy regulations including COPPA and GDPR. We do not knowingly collect or solicit any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.

6. Security of Your Information

Because your videos and preferences remain entirely on your local device, your files are protected by Android’s built-in sandbox security model.
