VeldWatch Academy is an independent research platform for cryptozoology and unexplained phenomena.
ZARC (Zoological Anomaly Research Collective)
We focus on the serious study of cryptids, folklore, eyewitness encounters, and unusual wildlife reports from all over the world. Founded with a specific interest in bipedal canine cryptids like the Dogman, VeldWatch Academy looks at how folklore, psychology, zoology, wilderness survival, and investigative research intersect.
Our aim is not to promote blind belief or sensationalism. We want to thoughtfully examine the unknown through critical thinking, evidence analysis, and open-minded investigation.
At VeldWatch Academy, we understand that many encounter reports shouldn't be dismissed with ridicule.
Across cultures and generations, people report experiences involving unexplained creatures and phenomena that challenge common understanding. Whether these encounters relate to undiscovered animals, psychological experiences, cultural stories, misidentification, or something even stranger, they deserve careful and respectful study.
Our courses are designed to help students:
* Understand the basics of cryptozoology
* Critically analyze eyewitness testimony
* Explore historical and modern cryptid cases
* Learn principles of investigative and field research
* Examine the psychological and folkloric aspects of unexplained encounters
* Develop balanced skepticism without losing curiosity
While I primarily focus on bipedal canine cryptids and Dogman-type phenomena, VeldWatch Academy also studies a broad range of cryptids and unexplained entities from South Africa and around the world.
~The unknown has always sparked human curiosity. And somewhere beyond the edges of certainty, the investigation continues.~
ZARC (Zoological Anomaly Research Collective)/(Project Veldwolf) is an independent field research initiative based in South Africa, dedicated to the investigation and documentation of anomalous wildlife and cryptid reports. Operating primarily in remote and underexplored environments, ZARC focuses on identifying patterns in eyewitness accounts, environmental conditions, and animal behavior that may explain or contextualize reports of unknown creatures.
Project Veldwolf serves as ZARC’s specialized research branch, concentrating on canine-type anomalies, including reported encounters with large, unidentified, or unusually behaving canids. Through a combination of field observation, data collection, and critical analysis, the project aims to separate misidentification from genuinely unexplained phenomena.
ZARC emphasizes a grounded, evidence-based approach. All investigations prioritize documentation over speculation, with an emphasis on repeatability, environmental context, and plausible explanations. Rather than seeking to prove the existence of any specific creature, ZARC aims to better understand the conditions and patterns that give rise to such reports.
By combining fieldwork, analytical mapping, and observational study, ZARC contributes to a broader understanding of how humans perceive and interpret the unknown at the edge of familiar environments.
