This is my fourth year at Vejar Elementary working as a speech language pathologist. I love working with children and I have a very active one year old of my own who keeps us on our toes. We as a family enjoy being outside and enjoying the fresh air, whether it's the beach, parks, or hikes. In my free time, you can find me reading, baking, or just eating cookies.

A boy fell off of a 30 foot ladder but did not get hurt. Why not?
He fell off of the bottom step of the ladder.
If your child is working on speech sounds, have him/her pay attention to the sounds they are working on as they say the tongue twister or joke.
If your child is working on vocabulary, have him/her explain the play on words in the tongue twister and joke.
If your child is working on grammar and story telling, have him/her summarize or tell you in his/her own words what the tongue twister or joke was about.
If your child is working on social skills, discuss when and who it would be appropriate to tell a tongue twister or a joke to and have him/her find a person to share the tongue twister or joke to. Practice tone of voice to make the tongue twister or joke sound interesting to the listener.
If your child is working on fluency (stuttering), practice slowing down the rate of speech and listening to himself/herself to see if his/her speech is "smooth" or "bumpy."
