The goal of the project is to systematically evaluate the combined effect of PV reconnection and epicardial VoM connectivity on postablation AT inducibility and sustainability using in-silico models
You can see in the following three different arrhythmia scenarios:
Left panel: models with left atrium connections to both the coronary sinus (CS) and the vein of Marshall (VoM).
Middle panel: models with left atrium connection to the CS but disconnected from the VoM.
Right panel: models in which the left atrium has no connection to either the CS or the VoM.
The main effect of the vein of Marshall (VoM) is observed on the tachycardia cycle length (TCL) in the left atrium (LA).
In models with the VoM present, the TCL in the LA increases significantly with increasing LA fibrosis burden (dark blue violins).
However, this relationship is not significant when the VoM is disconnected (light blue violins).
In contrast, the effect of wide antral circumferential ablation (WACA) was not significantly associated with TCL in the LA or in either atrium.
Models without WACA (red bars) tended to exhibit shorter TCLs compared with the average across all other configurations (blue violins).
Although the paired Wilcoxon signed-rank test did not reach statistical significance, the effect size was large (r = 0.56), indicating a consistent directional effect across patients.
