Becoming a vegetarian can seem like a big life change for many people. In this site, I write about my own experiences changing to a vegetarian diet and lifestyle.

I share the things I eat, the way that I eat them and why I eat them.

I also share my own opinions on what the benefits of vegetarianism are and how they have manifest in my life since making the life change to a meat-free diet.

Why Am I Vegetarian?

There are so many reasons to stop eating meat and embrace the vegetarian lifestyle, most notably personal health as well as environmental benefits.

My own reasons include not wanting to be the reason animals are killed for food, my disgust at the way livestock is kept in mainstream farms and the wish for a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable way of eating.

I know that for many people, a primary concern is their excess weight and to use a vegetarian diet to help them lose some of that weight. That was not a factor in my own decision, although the loss of several pounds was a happy by-product of my change of diet!

However, I also know some overweight vegetarians and to be honest, eating meat is not necessarily a factor in weight gain. The real weighty culprit is eating excessive amounts of refined carbohydrates and added sugars, mainly present in processed food products!

Suffice it to say, eating a vegetarian diet that is relatively low in refined carbs was one of my better choices in life and one I believe I will stick with for the rest of my life.
