When I first started making this recipe I had trouble getting the "bacon" to become crispy. I had to use a ton of oil and the end product, although crisp, was saturated. My new favorite item in the kitchen is the Chef's Planet Non-Stick Mesh Crisper, Black. This product is cheaper and can hold more than the airfryer. I use this to cook french fries, veggies, and of course my vegan bacon. It is simple to clean and can also be used on a grill top.
Since bread is a staple and such a convenient food for vegans, you might as well buy the healthiest you can, so that your body gets all the nourishment it deserves on a regular basis. Below are the top 3 healthiest, most satisfying brands according to Vegan Universal. The bakery at my local store also makes their own chabbatta. Simple ingredients and great for avo toast.
Cook up a little extra "bacon" and throw it on a bed of lettuce, avocado and tomatoes. I really like to top with Follow Your Heart brand Vegan Ranch Dressing. Or you could make your own.
