INGREDIENTS

Goat Cheese

2 cups raw Cashews
1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon
Nutritional Dry Yeast
1/2 teaspoon Lactic Acid
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons of water

Breading
1/4 cup flour (I am using gluten free)
salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon egg replacement
1/3 cup of plant based milk
1 cup breadcrumbs (I used gluten free)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
canola oil (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Goat Cheese

  • Soak the 2 cups raw Cashews in water overnight. you can also boil the for 20 minutes to soften.

  • Drain the cashews, rinse them and place in the bowl of a food processor.

  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
    1 teaspoon
    Nutritional Dry Yeast
1/2 teaspoon Lactic Acid adding the laqtic acid will give that fermented flavor in a strong goat cheese without having to use probiotic capsuls or needing to leave it out to culture. This is one of my favorite ingredients when makig plant based cheese and I ;ll link the one I use below. Next add
    ½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons of water I am using my immersion blender here. I lov
e the way it works to quickly bread down the cashews.

  • The mixture should be smooth but thick. If needed, add 1 tablespoon of water at a time until smooth.

I am using a mellon baller to scoop out about a tablespoon of the mixture. Then placing in the freezer for at least 2 hours. This helps ensure everything stays together when we assemble.

Fried Balls

  • In a bowl mix together 1/4 cup flour (I am using gluten free) with some salt and pepper to taste.

  • Prepare your vegan egg mixture by combining 1 tablespoon of egg replacement with 1/3 cup of plant based milk.

  • then mix together 1 cup breadcrumbs 1 teaspoon garlic powder. I made my bread crumbs gluten free by simply blending up some gluten free bread.

  • Working in batches, dredge cheese in flour, then transfer to the vegg mixture, then to the breading mixture.
for good measure I am p
lace on a large platter and freeze again for 15 minutes.

I am cooking mine in an airfryer at 400 degree for 10 minutes. While these are baking I am making a quick strawberry sauce. I had fried goat cheese ages ago before I was vegan and they were served with this dressing which is made simply by blending together

  • 1 cup of stawberries
    1 tablespoon of olive oil
    1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
    2 cloves of garlic
    1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice
    1/2 teaspoon of salt
    1 teaspoon of thyme

Serve on a salad, with a cheese platter or on their own and enjoy.

these could also be skillet fried or baked. Those direction along with the full recipe link can be found in the description and comment box below. Along with all of the ingredients I used in this recipe. So let me know whose make these. As always mahalo thanks for watching and I'll see you in the kitchen.

  1. Test oil to see if it's ready, then fry goat cheese balls in batches of about 6-8 depending on the size of your pot. Cook them for about 30-45 seconds total or until the outside is golden brown and crispy. If they are cooking faster than that, your oil is too hot. If they're taking longer to cook, then your oil is too cool.

  2. Use a slotted spoon to transfer goat cheese balls to a paper towel-lined platter to soak up the excess grease. Sprinkle with Kosher salt.

  3. Transfer to a serving platter and drizzle with honey. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and red pepper flakes if desired. Serve warm.

🍍 Pro Tips:

  • Whenever you're breading something, be sure to have a dry hand and a wet hand. For example, use your left hand to put the goat cheese into the flour and roll it around, then drop it into the egg wash. Then use your right hand to roll the goat cheese balls around in the egg wash and then drop them into the breading. Then use your left hand to coat the balls in the breading mixture. This will ensure that you aren't breading your fingers as you bread your balls!

  • Make sure you don’t skip the freezer step. This helps ensure everything stays together and doesn’t immediately melt or fall apart when added to the oil.

  • Make-Ahead: If you'd like to throw these goat cheese balls together ahead of time, that's totally doable! Just follow the recipe instructions, but instead of freezing the breaded balls, refrigerate them for up to 48 hours. When you're ready to make them, take them out of the fridge and follow recipe instructions for frying.

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

  • Reheating: To reheat, place the goat cheese balls on a baking sheet and heat in a 350 degree oven for about 10-15 minutes. You could also heat a bit of oil in a large saute pan over medium heat and give the goat cheese balls a quick pan fry until they're crispy on the ouside and warmed through on the inside.
