When purchasing a renewal of Perpetual or Subscription Licenses, the updated License Keys become available at the Customer portal. If the License Key auto-update functionality is enabled, the updated License Key will be installed into the product automatically.
Customers that are current on maintenance have an option to merge several Production License Keys into a single License Key to use in a product installation. Merge functionality for current versions is available at Customer Portal (my.veeam.com). For cases when merge is required for older versions of Veeam products, a Licensing support case needs to be opened.
License Key Editions must match, with exception of merging perpetual Socket license and Veeam Universal License. The Edition of the merge license will follow the Socket License Key (e.g. merging a 10 Socket Standard Edition license with the VUL is possible and will result in a Standard Edition License Key).
Starting with v7, a standalone license for Veeam Recovery Orchestrator must be merged with a Veeam Data Platform license before it can be installed in the software application. Sharing of the Source Infrastructure between different Community Edition and Free Licenses is prohibited. This includes using multiple Community Edition deployments, or using both paid licenses and Community Edition deployments, to protect different parts of the same Source Infrastructure. i am new by veeam. I have installed the community edition and will testing backup. Next week i have a tech demo with a veeam consult for full version. But now i will testing the free funktions, and i have added my S3 Bucket. The connections to Amazon S3 works, but when i will configure a backup job, i cannot choose the s3 Storage as backup destination. It there a limit function for this storage in the communitiy edition?

you cannot backup directly to an object storage. You have to configure a scale-out repository with the object storage as capacity tier. For this you need the NFR License or a paid license (Level enterprise or higher).

If the license has expired and you have used backup job options available for the Workstation and Server editions, you must disable these options in the properties of the backup job. Otherwise, the backup job will fail.

I run the UrBackup server container in one location and the UrBackup clients in my VM's. Much easier to manage open file / shadow file / locked file issues inside the VM with a client than to try to backup the whole image file. Also the backup sets can more easily be granular restored and deduplicated for space saving with much deeper retention.
For anyone else googling this in the future, I have successfully set up Veeam Community edition agents on a number of windows and linux vms running on my Unraid box. The key benefit of Veeam vs. other solutions I looked at is that it will backup a running VM without stopping it. The backups need to be written to an unRAID directory shared to a path within the VM. The backups occur automatically per the you schedule you set up inside the agent and only write incremental changes, so backups after the first one are very quick.
Veeam SE here. Veeam Backup for Azure does not currently support Azure Files. It supports backing up Azure VMs and Azure SQL instances directly to Azure blob storage. The free edition will protect up to 10 instances with no limitations (besides email-only Veeam support).
we are using Azure Backup with mars at the moment and now its becoming costly for customer due to data size. I came to know about blob storage cool tier and it appears that they are comparatively cheaper for data backup solutions. But thanks for the link, that's what I was looking to confirm.
It's priced similar to hot tier blob storage right now but keep an eye on announcements for Archive tier storage for Azure backup. It's not supported for MARS currently but maybe in future this will be an option.

Starting from Veeam Backup & Replication v12, you can also use PostgreSQL instead of Microsoft SQL Server. In fact the default installation will now install PostgreSQL. This decision was made because Microsft SQL Express edition came with a lot of limitation in terms of scaling (eg max 10 GB Database size). PostgreSQL does not have these limitations while it does not require an expensive license either.
