More than 30 school leaders, teachers and AcadeMedia representatives from Sweden took part in the course Foundations of Character Education for Educators at the Virtue and Values Education Centre (VEC) at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV).

Over three days, participants explored how schools can become educational communities that promote the holistic development of the person through character education. The programme combined theory and practice, addressing topics such as whole-school approach, leadership, curriculum design, cyberwisdom, moral dilemmas and the cultivation of virtues.

The course reflects VEC's growing international role in character education. AcadeMedia, the largest education provider in Northern Europe, brought an especially significant international dimension to the initiative.

A highlight of the programme was a visit to Stella Maris La Gavia School, where participants observed practical examples of how character education can be embedded in everyday school life through relationships, culture and institutional practices.

By bringing together educators committed to fostering both academic excellence and human flourishing, the initiative reaffirmed UFV's commitment to an education that develops knowledge, practical wisdom, responsibility and character in service of the common good.
