The Ventura County Heat Action Plan Committee (Coordinating Committee) aims to foster effective collaboration and ensure the successful execution of the Extreme Heat and Community Resilience Program grant. It supports partner coordination and project management, helping grant partners plan and implement their scopes of work and project schedules. The Committee is responsible for establishing the overall framework and structure for the Heat Action Plan (HAP), ensuring community participation and representation of vulnerable populations, and providing diverse expertise and guidance on approaches and strategies. Its work includes overseeing and supporting plan development, creating a monitoring and evaluation plan, and facilitating resource sharing and peer-to-peer learning to build capacity, collective knowledge, and best practices. Finally, the Committee coordinates community engagement and public communication efforts.

The Extreme Heat Action Planning (EHAP) Committee typically meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 8:00am-9:00am.
To strengthen the Extreme Heat Action Planning, Ventura County is inviting interested individuals and organizations to apply to serve as Advisory Group members. Advisory Group members join select Coordinating Committee meetings to provide input on project details, community needs, and outreach strategies. This group plays an important role in bringing local perspectives, lived experience, and subject-matter expertise into the planning process.
Ventura County welcomes applications from interested community members, local governments, community-based organizations, tribes, advocacy groups, service providers, and others who are interested in shaping and influencing the Heat Action Plan. Applicants do not need prior technical expertise; lived experience, community knowledge, and a desire to contribute are valued.
Role: Provide advice and feedback on Heat Action Plan development, community engagement, and outreach efforts.
Meeting Frequency: At most quarterly (meetings may be less frequent depending on project needs).
Format: Meetings are typically held virtually via Zoom.
Time Commitment: Meetings are generally one hour per quarter. Members will also be asked to review documents or other project materials in preparation for meetings.
*Please note that we do not currently have budget to offer live interpretation for meetings.
