Students earn a "verified credit" when they receive a passing score (400 or above) on the end-of-course exam in qualifying courses.
Whether you're in an Advanced diploma track or Standard diploma track, you will still need to get 5 verified credits to graduate:
2 English, 1 Math, 1 Science, and 1 Social Studies
A verified credit is a passing score on an SOL for the given subjects:
-English Reading (taken in 11th grade)
-English Writing (taken in 11th Grade)
-Math SOL (usually taken in 9th grade)*
-Social Studies SOL (usually taken in 9th grade)*
-Science SOL (usually taken in 9th grade)**
*If you take your SOL in 9th grade and receive a passing score, that counts as your verified credit and you will not need to take the SOL for that course again. If you do not pass, you may have to take the SOL again during the following year. This is all determined by your counselor, so if you have questions, please reach out!
** The same idea applies to the science SOLS, but there is an extra requirement that makes you take a lab science sol (so biology or chemistry). So even if you pass your preceding SOL (like Earth Science), you will still be required to sit the Biology OR Chemistry SOL.
