Vaping is the process of aerosolizing a solution known as vape juice or e-juice and inhaling it into the lungs using electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) or other vaping devices. That solution may contain a variety of ingredients, including flavours and nicotine.
An e-cigarette is a device that simulates the act of smoking tobacco.
It is made up of an atomizer, a power source like a battery, and a container like a cartridge or tank. The user inhales vapour rather than smoke. As a result, using an e-cigarette is commonly referred to as "vaping." The atomizer is a heating element that atomizes vape juice, which is a liquid solution. E-cigarettes are turned on by inhaling a puff or pressing a button.
But why is everyone talking about Vaping? Is it any better than regular smoking? Let’s see what are the pros of vaping over traditional smoking.
There is a lot of misinformation out there about the safety of vaping, with many people seeing it as just as dangerous, if not more dangerous, than smoking.
This is unequivocally not the case. Vaping is estimated to be 95% better healthier than smoking, and its effectiveness as a quitting aid means you're more likely to succeed in cutting back or quitting, which is the most important benefit.
Vape juice contains far fewer chemicals than cigarette smoke and does not remain in the body as long as tar in the lungs does when you smoke.
As previously stated, e-cigarettes are extremely effective at assisting smokers in reducing or quitting smoking for good. More than half of current smokers in the United Kingdom expressed a desire to quit, and the most common reason for using e-cigarettes is to reduce or quit smoking tobacco.
According to research, vaping is nearly twice as effective as traditional nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs). This refers to things like nicotine patches, lozenges, gums, inhalers and more so of the “traditional” quitting aids.
A study, partnering with NHS stop smoking service, found that among one group of smokers willing to quit the habit, 18% of e-cigarette users stopped smoking tobacco after a year. This is a far better average than traditional NRT users, where only 9.9% quit.
For many years, the effects of secondhand smoking have been studied, and the findings show that smoking is and continues to be extremely dangerous to not only smokers, but also those around them.
The smoke emitted by tobacco products contains over 7000 chemicals, including approximately 70 known carcinogens. Secondhand smoke is so dangerous because it can be inhaled by others, not just the smoker. In children, the effects of secondhand smoke can lead to:
Increased risk of respiratory infections like bronchitis and pneumonia
Increased risk of ear, nose and throat infections
Increased risk of severe asthma and asthma attacks
Increased risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (also known as SIDS or cot death)
In the case of adults, second hand smoke potentially raises your risk of heart disease, lung cancer and strokes, among other conditions.
According to studies, the vapour exhaled by e-cigarette users degrades in seconds without compromising air quality, even in a poorly ventilated room. Cigarette smoke, on the other hand, can last for more than 30 minutes in the air. This, in addition to exacerbating the effects of passive smoking, allows cigarette smoke to settle into furnishings and fabrics in a room. As vapour disappears so quickly after being exhaled, it shouldn’t be much of a concern for vapers.
You have complete control over your nicotine dosage when you vape. E-juice is available in a range of nicotine strengths, from nicotine-free to high-strength nicotine. You can control how much nicotine is in your vape, or you can use no nicotine at all. Most vapers begin with high nicotine levels and gradually work their way down to lower strengths, or even completely eliminate nicotine.
