Vanessa Piccolo

Welcome! 

I am a postdoctoral researcher at EPFL in the group of Prof. Florent Krzakala and in close collaboration with the group of Prof. Lenka Zdeborová. My research lies at the intersection of probability theory (especially, random matrix theory and high-dimensional probability) and the mathematical foundations of data science and machine learning.

I completed my Ph.D. in mathematics at ENS Lyon, where I was fortunate to be co-advised by Prof. Alice Guionnet (CNRS and ENS Lyon) and Prof. Gérard Ben Arous (Courant Institute, NYU). My thesis is available [here]. 

Prior to that, I studied mathematics at ETH Zurich and wrote my Master's thesis under the supervision of Dr. Dominik Schröder. For more details, see my CV [here].
