Dr. Vanessa Checchetto has completed her education at the University of Padua, Italy, where she earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biotechnology, a Master's degree in Industrial Biotechnology with summa cum laude, and a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology. In 2021, Dr. Checchetto received the IJMS (International Journal of Molecular Sciences) Young Investigator Award in recognition of her contributions to molecular biophysics. In addition, she was awarded a scholarship by the Ing. Aldo Gini Foundation in 2012, which enabled her to undertake research at the Scientific Department of Sciences du Vivant, Laboratoire Physiologie Cellulaire et Végétale at the Centre Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique (CEA) in Grenoble, France.
Dr. Checchetto's international reputation is further enhanced by numerous travel awards, which have enabled her to disseminate and enhance her research globally. These awards include the International Travel Award from the American Biophysical Society, a travel grant for the Gordon Research Conference on Organellar Channels & Transporters, a travel grant from the Italian Society of Pure and Applied Biophysics (SIBPA), and a grant for the Regional Biophysics Conference.
Currently, Dr. Checchetto’s research is supported by a range of funding sources, including a Scientific Excellence Research Grant from the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo (CARIPARO). She is the principal investigator of projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) (PRID-BIRD and DOR-BIRD), and she is also co-manager of a National Interest Research Project (PRIN 2022). Additionally, she is a member of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan project - PNRR - CN3 Spoke 1, led by Professor Luca Scorrano at the University of Padua.
