Beta Alpha Psi at Washington State University Vancouver is dedicated to recognizing and encouraging excellence in the fields of accounting, finance, and information systems. Our chapter provides students with opportunities for professional development, networking, and community service while fostering leadership skills.

What does it mean to be a Candidate? Being a Candidate means you are declaring that you have the full intention to become a Member, whether that be the Associate Membership or full Membership, and are starting or currently in-process of fulfilling requirements.
Confirmation: The VP of Membership will send you a confirmation email once we have reviewed the submission of the form. The Faculty Advisor will have to confirm your GPA if you are submitting for Membership Candidadcy. If you do not meet the requirements for full membership, you may still be eligible to become an Associate Member.
Submit Membership Dues:
Pay the Membership Fee ($25 for Associate Membership, $75 for Membership, or $50 if you are transitioning from Associate Membership to Membership).

To become a member, all students must declare candidacy. At that point, you will decide To become a candidate for Beta Alpha Psi, students must:

To become an Associate Member or Member, students must first fulfill the following requirements:
Be an undergraduate or graduate student planning to major in Accounting, Finance, or Management Information Systems.

Pay the candidate fee according to your eligible pathway of Associate Membership or Membership (includes national dues, our chapter does not require additional dues).
Complete the required professional, service, and participation requirements according to your eligible pathway of Associate Membership or Membership.
Attend the Initiation Ceremony to get initiated as an Associate Member or Member.
Associate Membership Requirements
For students who are not yet eligible for full membership, Nu Theta offers the Associate Membership program:
Pay the $25 fee (goes towards the full $75 one-time membership fee).
6 Professional Hours per semester (minimum 4 of weekly BAP speaker presentations).
2 Community Service Hours per semester (e.g., Cards for Kids event, tutoring, VITA, food bank trips, or volunteering through WSU-V or GivePulse, City of Vancouver).
Must be pursuing a business degree with an interest in Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems.
Does not yet meet the requirements for full Beta Alpha Psi Membership, but intends to do so.
Attend the Initiation Ceremony in Fall and Spring.
Attend the Spring Banquet Event in Spring.
Uphold good moral character.

Membership Requirements
To be eligible for full membership, students generally have to be a junior or senior. To maintain active membership, candidates and members must meet attendance and participation requirements for our chapter and Beta Alpha Psi International:
NU THETA CHAPTER REQUIREMENTS:
Pay the $75 fee (one-time membership fee).
6 Professional Hours per semester (minimum 4 of weekly BAP speaker presentations).
2 Community Service Hours per semester (e.g., Cards for Kids event, tutoring, VITA, food bank trips, or volunteering through WSU-V or GivePulse, City of Vancouver).
Attend the Initiation Ceremony in Fall and Spring.
Attend the Spring Banquet Event in Spring.
Uphold good moral character.
Follow the Beta Alpha Psi Code of Ethics (https://www.bap.org/code-of-ethics).
BETA ALPHA PSI INTERNATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Declared a concentration in accounting, finance, business technology [management information systems], and analytics, or have stated an intention to declare a concentration to do so, and
Be matriculated students at the university hosting the chapter, and
Have completed at least one major course (accounting, finance, business technology and analytics or corresponding to major area) beyond the principles or introductory level [ACCTG 330]. For transfer students, the qualifying course must be at a not-for-profit bachelor's or higher degree granting institution with a Business school that is accredited by AACSB, ACBSP, EPAS, EFMD or EQUIS;
Achieve a GPA according to the following criteria:
Achieved a cumulative grade average of at least 3.0 (on a scale where A is equal to 4.0) in upper-level courses within the declared area of concentration, beyond the business core. For graduate students, this GPA should be measured after at least one semester or quarter of academic work, and
Attained a cumulative grade average of at least 3.0, or
Attained a rank within the top 35% of the university class, or
Achieved at least a 3.25 cumulative grade average on the most recently completed 30 semester hours.
Attained an honors distinction recognized by their institution, considered equivalent to the above by the Beta Alpha Psi Board of Directors.

Required payment for Membership based on paths:
Associate Membership Path: $25 (goes towards the $85 lifetime membership fee).
Membership Path: $85 (one-time lifetime membership fee).
Payment can be made using either cash or check:
Checks for membership can be made out to “Beta Alpha Psi – Office of Student Involvement” and brought to the Office of Student Involvement (OSI). OSI is located in the same building as the Firstenburg Student Commons on the other end.
Cash can be brought to the front desk of OSI, and you will have to fill out a form making sure it is cashed to Beta Alpha Psi.
TO NOTE:
Dues Increase: The lifetime membership fee will increase to $85 starting July 2025 to align with Beta Alpha Psi National Guidelines.
Payment methods and deadlines will be communicated after application submission.
Scholarships: If you have trouble paying the membership fees, please speak with either the Faculty Advisor, President, or Vice President of Membership.
