Hay svondutch, I have read your answer, and I have seen that you have mention 3 secure browsers. However, I am very conscious about security. That is why I am saying this. However, Firefox is the most secure web browser, and I recommend you to install Microsoft edge extension on Firefox.

In the Group Policy Management sidebar, click Google > Google Chrome > Extensions and choose Configure the list of force-installed apps and extensions.

I have Microsoft Edge as my browser on my Win 10 desktop running 1Password with the 1Password X running as the extension - new user but everything working OK and now on learning curve. Problem is with my iPhone. Downloaded the 1Password app Version 7.7 and it is on my iPhone. Settings in iPhone turned on for Autofill with 1Password. I can open the 1Password app, passwords and log-ins are there but when I hit the home button app closes requiring another sign on with master password. Also have Microsoft Edge 45.12.4 set as my default browser but I can't get it to work with 1Password. Maybe I can't use Microsoft Edge on the iPhone with 1Password? Do I need to get an add-on for it as well? If I need extension do I get it from Apple or Microsoft? Name of extension? Also I have individual apps like Amazon on my iPhone and I can't get them to work with 1Password either. I have to enter the username and password manually which kind of defeats purpose. Help! Thanks. If someone could point me to a video link or article that would be great. I do have the subscription version of 1Password.

I'm sorry to hear that you're running into an issue with installing the 1Password extension for Edge. Can you confirm that your Edge browser fully up-to-date? You can check by opening Edge and entering edge://settings/help in your address bar.

Bought a new machine, first thing I always do is setup Windows Hello then install 1Password. I downloaded 1Password 8.7.1 and got signed in. Then went to Edge and downloaded the Edge extension (following the link from the 1Pwd website). It asked me to sign into my account. So I've tried to fully uninstall (including removing 1Pwd files in AppData, ProgramData, etc.) 1Password's desktop app and reinstall...and remove the extension, clear all cookies / website data, and re-add the extension. I've tried in a different Edge profile as well. I've also tried to uncheck the option to "connect to 1password browser extension", exit, and relaunch, re-check it...all the things.

I was able to install it just yesterday on the same machine (in fact, Edge sync installed it automatically), but then I had to reset the device to get it to upgrade to Windows 11, and the same extension install is now failing.

If you're a 1Password user, you've had to endure quite the wait for an extension to arrive for Microsoft Edge. However, it appears that wait is now over. As first spotted by Windows Bog Italia, the 1Password extension for Microsoft Edge is now available for everyone in the Windows Store.

This comes nearly a year since Microsoft first announced it was working with the 1Password team to launch a preview extension for Insiders. Throughout that period, 1Password developer AgileBits has frequently kept users up to date with its progress. According to AgileBits, the initial release cleared the approval process on October 3.

The extension works much as you'd expect if you're already familiar with the various password managers on the market. 1Password lives as an icon to the right of the address bar in Edge, giving you easy access to your passwords, secure notes, payment cards, and more. When browsing the web, the 1Password extension can automatically fill in your login information, identities, and credit card information with one click. A password generator is also on board to create strong passwords for sites you visit.

If you're eager to give it a shot, you can grab the 1Password Edge extension on the Windows Store now. Be aware that, in addition to the extension, you also need to have 1Password for Windows version 6.7 or newer installed.

The new extension works just fine with 1Password 7. The extension itself has never required a separate license from the app, and my 1P 7 license appears to allow the extension to function normally. So saying that this deprecates 1P 7 entirely is a bit premature.

I then disabled the new extension, re-enabled the classic extension, and tested everything again (I completely exited out of 1Password and relaunched it for each test; same for Firefox.) With the classic extension, the username and password fields are automatically filled again.

It's been almost a year now since Microsoft first indicated it was working with 1Password on extension support for Microsoft Edge. At that time, the company had promised the relevant APIs would be coming soon but it seems Microsoft's idea of 'soon' is more than 10 months.

Now available to everyone as a download from the Windows/Microsoft Store on Windows 10, the utility offers one place to manage all your passwords and log-in information. The extension can also automatically fill in identity and credit card information, if you so choose. Alongside saving and managing passwords, 1Password features the ability to generate random passwords for added security.

With this addition, the number of extensions available for Microsoft Edge now totals 69. Microsoft claims this rather poor showing of interest by developers in supporting its latest browser is because the company is insistent on a 'high bar for quality'. Though, looking back at earlier information about how easy porting extensions from Chrome to Edge was supposed to be, it may seem far more likely that a lack of enthusiasm from developers, alongside Microsoft's insistence on bundling improvements to Edge with Windows 10 updates are really to blame for the lack of support. As the developers of 1Password point out, their own plans were hampered by the fact that the APIs needed for the extension would not be added until the Creators Update was pushed out.

If you're running a compatible Insider build of Windows 10, you can download the extension for Microsoft Edge here. You'll also need to ensure that you have 1Password for Windows version 6.7 or later installed and configured in order to use the extension.

After some time off for Thanksgiving, we're back with a beta including an updated look for the Strong Password Generator, refreshed item icons, and a wide range of fixes across the extension. We absolutely love hearing from you, and we'd love for your input in the 1Password Support Community ?.
