Across Duvall, Carnation, and surrounding King County areas currently travel 17+ miles to reach the nearest public pool
Of households have children under 18, creating strong demand for aquatic programming and swim lessons
Geographic isolation forces residents to travel to Redmond, North Bend, or Bothell for public swimming access
The Valley region represents one of the most underserved areas in King County for aquatic recreation. With Duvall's 8,517 residents earning a median income of $178,821 and Carnation's 2,176 residents at $141,097, the demographics show both strong need and financial capacity. An additional 4,500+ residents in rural areas including Cherry Valley, Novelty Hill, and the SR-203 corridor complete a service area with exceptional potential for aquatic programming.
Current options require extensive travel: Redmond Pool sits 17 miles south, North Bend Pool 19 miles southeast, and Bothell Pool 22 miles west. This geographic isolation creates a significant barrier to swimming lessons, fitness programs, and recreational swimming for families throughout the region. The proposed modular aquatic center addresses this gap with a strategically located, community-focused facility designed to serve the unique needs of East King County residents
