I have a Win 8.1 test machine with Flash 17.0.0.188 on it and when I run the uninstaller, it completes just fine (no errors), but nothing has changed. Registry entries are still there, files are still in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash. Only running user processes were regedit, file explorer and powershell, so no flash dependent applications.

Using the FlashUtil.exe with -uninstall switch is problematic across so many machines because Adobe has changed the FlashUtil name with almost every version that has come out (IE FlashUtil64_17_0_0_190_ActiveX.exe, FlashUtil64_18_0_0_194_ActiveX, FlashUtil_ActiveX). Would you want to manually check over 2000 machines to find out which one it has to run the -uninstall switch? And what if that user used the .MSI to install? Per your question about the registry entries, that is the only reliable way I have found so far to determine if flash player is installed and what version of flash player is installed. Trying to check the file system is impractical due to the shear amount of different names Adobe used for the same file across so many versions and number of computers.

its depend wat you want from flash. I'm using flash from past 10yrs and used almost all the versions of flash. I love flash 8 but not i moved to CS4 because of AS3 support. I felt if you do only animation related work then flash 8 is the one of the best in all the versions.

So i went to www.adobe.com and downloaded the flash player, but when trying to install it it did not work i saw it was running in the task manager for a short while then it disappeared and when going on youtube it was the same upgrade your adobe flash player message.

I am against flash too. personally it causes headaches. If used correctly than it can be amazing to use. looking at shows like wakfu, which is a french animated film animated entirely in flash, with after effects for compositing it shows what flash can do if used right.

however schools should really avoid teaching flash to beginners. from my course a lot of people relied heavily on flashes tools to do the animating for them when it should be the last thing they use.
