Karmyn Valentine's sculpture titled 'Parallels' will be featured this year in ArtPrize 2025. This is the first sculpture Karmyn has ever worked on. What began as a piece of firewood from a fallen Maple tree transformed over the years into what you see before you. With no prior vision in mind Karmyn allowed the art to speak to her. Starting with a Chainsaw and later a Dremel the piece took shape, flowing and changing overtime, until the Maple breathed with life again.

"I am attempting to bring life back into and honor a very special maple tree that I've found shelter beneath on countless nights where otherwise no peace could be found in me. Half of her fell, and half still stands..
As I relate with her, I often think of the two sides of the mind, two sides of emotion, thoughts, the 'in-between' confusion and clarity. I've found shelter in her spirit and calm healing in her presence.
This is my journey to bring what of her fell,
back to life."
