Vajira Samararatne

Business Consultant/Entrepreneur

Vajira Samararatne is an entrepreneur, business consultant, and business executive known for founding and leading CoverageX, a rapidly growing company specializing in vehicle protection plans and home warranty services. He built CoverageX around a customer-first model focused on transparency, direct support, and simplified claims management in an industry criticized for complicated contracts and inconsistent service. Under his leadership, the company has expanded to serve more than 300,000 members, has paid over $30 million in claims, and has maintained a 98 percent customer satisfaction rate and strong third-party review scores.

Creating a Different Kind of Protection Company

Vajira Samararatne founded CoverageX on the idea that protection services should feel supportive, not complicated. Many companies in the industry traditionally focused on contracts and exclusions, confusing consumers trying to understand what was actually covered.

CoverageX instead built its identity around clarity. The company openly explains how vehicle service contracts work, what they include, and what they do not cover. It also provides educational material about claims procedures, roadside assistance, repair coordination, and maintenance responsibilities.

Under Vajira Samararatne’s leadership, the company developed a structure to simplify and make customer interactions more predictable. Claims support is available 24 hours a day, year-round, and approved repairs are paid directly to repair facilities. Customers can obtain quotes online in minutes, and roadside assistance is included in vehicle protection plans.

Building CoverageX in the Automotive Protection Market

A major part of Samararatne’s business success comes from the growth of CoverageX’s automotive protection division. Vehicle repairs have become increasingly expensive due to advances in automotive technology, electronic systems, sensors, and drivetrain complexity. CoverageX addresses this issue by offering vehicle service contracts designed to help customers manage unexpected repair costs.

The company offers four primary tiers of automotive protection. The Essential Plan focuses on core mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, drivetrains, seals, gaskets, and applicable turbocharger components. The Signature Plan expands coverage to include electrical systems, air conditioning, and suspension components. The Premium Plan includes advanced technology coverage and broader system protection, while the Executive Plan provides exclusionary coverage, meaning systems are protected unless specifically listed.

Another important feature promoted under Samararatne’s leadership is locked-in pricing. CoverageX says customers can keep their coverage rates for life as long as policies remain active. This creates predictability for customers concerned about rising service costs or future premium increases.

The company also highlights repair cost comparisons to demonstrate the financial impact of major breakdowns. CoverageX references average engine repair costs of approximately $9,292 without protection coverage. By presenting these figures, the company positions service contracts as practical financial planning tools rather than optional luxury purchases.

Expanding Into Home Warranty Services

In addition to automotive protection, Vajira Samararatne guided CoverageX into the home warranty sector. This expansion enabled the company to serve homeowners facing repair and replacement costs for household systems and appliances.

CoverageX home warranty plans cover a broad range of household equipment, including heating systems, cooling systems, plumbing infrastructure, electrical systems, refrigerators, and water heaters. The company also offers optional add-on coverage for features such as swimming pools, spas, guest houses, wine coolers, and additional air conditioning units.

Samararatne’s business strategy in this area focused on simplifying home protection into a unified structure. Instead of requiring multiple disconnected policies, CoverageX offers a single comprehensive plan that combines system and appliance coverage, with customization through optional add-ons.

Operational Systems and Claims Management

One of the most important aspects of CoverageX’s growth under Samararatne’s leadership is the company’s operational structure. Running a protection services company at scale requires coordination across customer support, claims management, and payment systems.

CoverageX developed a four-step claims process to simplify breakdowns for customers. First, members contact the claims department and report the issue. Second, customers may arrange temporary transportation support for qualifying automotive claims. Third, claims advisors review coverage and coordinate with repair facilities. Finally, CoverageX pays approved repair shops directly.

This direct-payment model helps reduce financial pressure on customers who might otherwise face large out-of-pocket repair expenses before reimbursement.

Customer Experience as a Business Strategy

A defining feature of Samararatne’s entrepreneurial approach is his focus on customer experience as a central business strategy. Many companies advertise customer support, but CoverageX makes support quality central to its public identity.

According to company materials, CoverageX maintains a 98 percent customer satisfaction rate and a 4.5-star rating on both Google and Trustpilot. CoverageX also promotes an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau as part of its trust-building efforts.

The company’s 30-day money-back guarantee further supports this approach. By offering a risk-reduction mechanism for new customers, CoverageX aims to reduce hesitation among consumers who are uncertain about protection plans.

Strategic Partnerships and Industry Relationships

Another major component of Samararatne’s leadership involves establishing relationships with recognized automotive and service industry brands. CoverageX publicly lists partnerships with organizations including AAMCO, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Meineke, Pep Boys, Take 5 Oil Change, and Valvoline.

These relationships strengthen CoverageX’s operational network while increasing customer confidence in its service ecosystem.

Partnerships with nationally recognized automotive companies also support broader geographic coverage. Since CoverageX operates nationwide, access to reliable repair and service networks is essential to maintaining consistency across regions.
