Dr. Kumar received the B.E. degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU), India, in 2012; the M.Tech. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, with a specialization in Mobile Communications, from The LNM Institute of Information Technology (LNMIIT), Jaipur, India, in 2015; and the Ph.D. degree in Wireless Communications from University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, in 2020.

Since September 2023, he has been with the Engineering Division at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), UAE, where he currently serves as an Associate Research Scientist. Prior to joining NYUAD, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at UCD, Ireland. During his Ph.D., he was a recipient of the prestigious Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) grant. Earlier, he served as a Project Associate in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at LNMIIT during 2015–2016 and as a Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur during 2012–2013.

He currently serves as an Area Editor for Physical Communication (Elsevier). He has also served as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member for several major international conferences, including IEEE ANTS, IEEE WCNC, IEEE ICC, IEEE VTC, and IEEE GLOBECOM.

His research interests span wireless communications and signal processing, with particular emphasis on reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), next-generation multiple-access techniques, including non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA), physical-layer security, mobile edge computing, and massive MIMO networks.
