LORE AND MECHANICS SUBJECT TO CHANGE, WE ARE IN CLOSED ALPHA, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
No metagaming.
Metagaming is when you use your out of character knowledge in character and often for personal gain
No powergaming.
Powergaming is when you use powers your character does not have, or use meta knowledge, for the benefit of your character.
All roleplay needs to be understandable.
You don’t need perfect grammar or spelling, but everyone else needs to be able to understand what you are trying to say.
Character guidelines are as follows:
All characters must fit into the world's lore. That is to say, they must fit the storybuilding laws of the world- be it the magic or the technology.
All characters must be OCs, and said OCs cannot be from existing franchises.
You cannot play the Daughter of the Phantom of the Opera– but you can play a character who is the daughter of a serial killer who posed as a theatre ghost– the inspiration can be there, but there has to be something that makes them unique.
Your character cannot be perfect– their flaws must be real flaws. Examples of good and bad characters will be in roleplay guides.
A player may have up to 3 active characters with an event sheet
In order to join combat events or to gain access to special abilities, an event sheet is required
Event sheets are to be posted in the character applications section of the forum where a staff member will review it.
All characters, regardless as to whether or not they have an event sheet, must have a Character Profile posted in the Character Profiles Board on the forums with the following information at a minimum:
Name they go by
Appearance
Their basic stat block (if your character does not have an event sheet this is not required)
Combat Guidelines
There are two forms of combat allowed on this server.
Honor Combat– no dice or character sheets, just regular combat roleplay
The server’s combat system
Both parties must decide on a combat system if engaging in combat with each other. If they cannot come to an agreement, the server’s combat system is the default. If there is ever an ooc issue in this regard, this needs to be taken to a moderator.
PTK Rules are as follows:
PTK is the permission to kill– essentially, players must consent to having their character killed
Some circumstances, however, do lead to auto PTK, such as your character’s reputation, if your character is a notable figure who would reasonably have assassination attempts made on them, or other story relevant moments
PTK may not be used in order to get yourself out of the consequences of in character actions because you dislike where it is going– for example, if your character murdered someone needlessly, you may not use PTK to avoid your character’s own death
For the sake of the mental health and wellbeing of our community, there are exceptions to PTK in circumstances such rule breaking, mental distress, or murder-hoboing (just going around and killing for the sake of killing)
An example of the second option, could be your character dying of a magic potion that resembles an irl disease that a loved one died of irl.
What is and is not a story relevant moment is up to the discretion of a DM or member of Moderation, and any disputes regarding PTK will be dealt with by either a DM or a Moderator with the conclusion being made based on these rules and the circumstances around the dispute
No ERP
Fade to black, take it to DMs, whatever, but any erp on server will result in disciplinary action- the Soothsayer Bot is always watching.
Have fun!
No, seriously. This is a hobby that is meant to be fun, and if it is at all for any reason causing issues with your mental health, you need to stop.
Examples of reasons you can (and should) stop rp:
If there are things icly that are too similar to irl traumatic experiences
RP is more stressful than it is fun
It is getting in the way of your personal life
Anything else that causes you some sort of harm
Any rp that is too much for you for any reason CAN and SHOULD be stopped.
If there is anything that is somehow preventing this, put in a moderation ticket. Your mental health is more important than rp, and if someone is bothering you, it is VERY likely they are bothering someone else.
Embody all of the server rules
Self explanatory- if you can’t obey server rules you cannot be expected to be a staff member
Do your job
Every position in staff has a job to do, and it needs to be done. Report to your higher ups, and do what has to be done.
If it is found you’re on staff and you aren’t doing your job, there will be a talking to.
Mental health breaks are fine so long as you let someone in upper staff know, more on this in 3b
Remain active
In order to remain on staff you need to be active, meaning you need to be somewhat active on the server itself and you need to attend at least one staff meeting a month.
Circumstances that require inactivity are totally fine, be it mental or physical health reasons, family matters, or other personal things- real life comes first. Utilize the moderation ticket system to let upper staff know if you’re going to be gone for a week or more. Otherwise, let your team head know that you aren’t going to be active.
Document everything you do for the team
This allows us to know who is doing what and keep tabs on activity without breathing down everyone’s necks
The staff forums are where we will track all of our to do’s. If there is something that needs to be done, it is on the staff forums.
Ensure that your updates are posted to the relevant threads with links
When linking relevant links, ensure that you link both the google sites link AND the link to relevant documents
If a thread already has all of the relevant links, just bump the thread with what you updated
Any tasks you complete you MUST write your name next to so we know who has done what.
All work done for the server is yours, BUT, we do have the right to use it when you leave (Think Creative Commons License)
Any documents you create for the server will be copied by the Vadratha google account (vadratha@gmail.com), and will be saved in the Google Drive, whether or not they are currently in use.
All documents will be posted to the forums, either publicly or in the private staff forums.
Your work is yours to use elsewhere if you decide! You are also giving Vadratha the right to use what you’ve helped create.
Lorekeeper Guidelines are as follows:
As said above, everything is creative commons
In regards to mechanics, it must be explainable by the lore
The theme is medieval HIGH fantasy with a sort of post apocalyptic grimdark twist– this is something that has to be followed. You can play with other AESTHETICS and MOTIFS so long as they can mesh well with the overall vibe.
The lore must be consistent and coherent, following its own basic worldbuilding rules
If there is something weird ooc that we cannot change, try and weave it into the lore of the land or an event arc to keep immersion
No technology past renaissance time– anything that is futuristic has to be either super retro-futuristic or be because of magic– this is all to Loremaster’s discretion.
No ic guns other than cannons or something akin fire lance– this is both to keep with the overall theming of Medieval Fantasy™
Collaborate with other lorekeepers- show it to at least another lorekeeper before marking it as complete– this is a collaborative project and there should be no one person carrying entire parts of the world.
Event Guidelines
All eventlines MUST mesh with the server lore
NPCs must have a character sheet listing their abilities, stats, personality, and roleplay tips for them, as ANY DM CAN PLAY THEM even if YOU created the character
Do not bring in any OCs you are not okay with someone else rping as when you are not there
It is fine to have a ‘primary dm’ for a character, but as stated above, any dm can play these characters
NPCs need to have lists of any and all important character interactions and deals– these can be logs, screenshots– or a list of bullet points, as LONG as they are legible to other DMs
Whole eventlines should NOT only be run by one person– the only person who should have ‘primary control’ over any events is the Court Dramaturge
Eventlines should be clearly written out and stated for everyone working on events to be able to run
Player created event lines are not to be helped or hindered by staff unless it is for the benefit of the server as a whole or they are going against RP rules.
Forum Guidelines
Any sort of images posted you need to have one of the following to use:
Permission from the artist
Created the image yourself
Bought the image/have the rights to use it
Pulled it from the ‘art’ section in the vadratha google drive
Use of AI image generators is prohibited
Posts must be readable. There are a lot of neurodivergent people in this hobby and if it is not ND friendly no one will understand anything if it is a wall of text
When in doubt go to either the server secretary or an organizational individual with the right perms to have them format it and/or post it for you
Any mechanical guidelines must have both an example and a copy-pasteable format– this is mostly for character sheets and stats but goes for anything that a player will need to fill in
Staff Positions/Hierarchy Are As Follows:
Enthroned– this is your owner/co-owner(s)
Upper Noble Houses–
