Keep up with V4-ICARUS activities
V4-ICARUS team participates in 2022 European Researchers’ Night on 30 September 2022, organized at the premises of FORTH in Heraklion, with two live demos: (i) on the application of Machine and Deep Learning technologies developed in the framework of the project for the analysis of hyperspectral data, and (ii) on learning how to program droid and create your own space game (for kids).
A seminar was given on 3 November 2022 by members of the V4-ICARUS team, in the framework of the postgraduate course HY500 - Introduction to Research, at the department of Computer Science, University of Crete. The activities of the Signal Processing Lab (host of V4-ICARUS) were presented to an audience of about 30 postgraduate students of the department, giving a special focus on the outcomes, technologies, and application domains of the V4-ICARUS project.
Prof. P. Tsakalides (V4-ICARUS coordinator) and colleagues Dr. G. Tsagkatakis and Dr. G. Tzagkarakis (members of the V4-ICARUS core team), organized the Earth Data: Building a Digital Earth for Studying Climate Change workshop, that took place on May 6, 2022.
The workshop was motivated by the facts that climate change is becoming part of everyday life, as well as that an ever-increasing body of Earth data from many different sources promises the most accurate and detailed estimation of a wide range of environmental variables through the creation of a "Digital Earth". As such, the analysis of a huge volume of scientific data and measurements creates new challenges, which require close interdisciplinary collaborations to address them. The purpose of the workshop was to present part of the rich research activity carried out in the academic institutions of Crete on the recording and analysis of data and measurements of the Earth, as well as the prospects in addressing and reducing the effects of climate change. The workshop was highly successful, reaching an audience of more than 30 participants both from academia and industry.
V4-ICARUS team participates in 2020 European Researchers’ Night, organized in an online fashion between 23-27 November 2020, with an educational video presenting the power of Computational Intelligence in the service of Space-related applications.
