Weekly Updates

Despite the long flights and jetlag, we all successfully made it to Venice!

Meetings were conducted with VPC director Fabio Carrera, advisors Alex Sphar & John Galante, and Ali Dehghan. 

We set up all software necessary to begin working on our web application and are excited to begin development next week!

We began making prototypes for the website and discussed possible frontend implementations.

We discussed the backend implementations for the website and settled on a framework and language.

We wrote the first draft of our Methodology chapter.

We began gathering useful data on the islands of Venice!

We obtained and started cleaning the data used in calculating our indicators.

We took photos of the islands of Murano, Burano, Torcello, and the Historic City islands that don't have Google street view.

We edited our Methods Chapter and our Background Chapter.

We calculated the Green Space, Tourism, Congestion, and Servability indicators and created choropleth maps to visualize them.

We made choropleth maps to show population change over time in the Historic City Islands. 

We started writing our Findings and Results chapter.

We started making our final presentation slides!

We finished calculating our indicators and fixed some of them to get more accurate results.

We finished the first draft of our full report!

We had a rehearsal final presentation and made changes to practice for the final presentation next week!

We made Venipedia templates for the Inner City, Major Lagoon, and Minor Lagoon Islands.

Updated the 1528: Benedetto Bordone VPC Cartography website.

We wrote the executive summary and abstract for our paper.

We finalized edits to our paper and submitted it to the WPI eProjects website.

We prepared for departure after successfully completing IQP!
