Uyen Diep (Ph.D. in Media & Public Affairs, Manship School of Mass Communication, Louisiana State University) has a strong research stream at the intersection of emerging/digital media, journalism, and political communication. Uyen has authored 17 peer-reviewed journal articles and presented over 30 conference papers, several of which have been recognized as Top Papers and Top Extended Abstracts by AEJMC and ICA.
Uyen has practiced journalism for 11 years in national and regional news organizations, with more than five years as a foreign correspondent in Singapore, Malaysia, and US.
She serves as an advisory member of the Asian Network of News & Information Educators (ANNIE) and was chosen as a 2024 AEJMC-MCSD Diversity and Inclusion Career Development Fellow.
Uyen was awarded multiple esteemed international grants and fellowships, including the Future News Worldwide (British Council, 2020), the YSEALI Academic Fellowship (US Department of State, 2019-2022), and the Jenesys 2.0 Mass Media (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, 2015).
