Annual Autumn Social 🍂✨

Overview: We held our yearly Autumn Social hosted by INFORMS and HFES! We had have ornament painting, pizza, snacks, and hot chocolate, along with a variety of fun activities to help you meet new people and unwind before the holiday season. All UW undergraduate and graduate students were welcome to join this relaxing and social evening!

🧑🎓 2025 UW Admitted Students Day 📚
When: April 19th, 2025
Overview: At this day, on-campus event is designed specifically for admitted students and their families.
We had a table, displayed how researchers conduct physiological data collection, introduced HFES to students and parents, and answered their questions.
🎨 HFES Logo Design Competition ✨
Submission Period: February 25th - March 7th, 2025
Overview: UW student chapter hosted the first logo design competition! We've already got our official logo and the designer(s) will receive free HFES-branded merchandise with their logo on it.

[Guest Speaker Series] Dr. Dongjoon 'DJ' Kong
When: Tuesday, Jan 28th, 2025
Overview: Dr. Dongjoon 'DJ' Kong is a Technical Fellow in Industrial Engineering (IE) at the Boeing company. He has been working with the BCA IE core team supporting all BCA programs. Currently he is working on improving the ergonomics issues via testing and implementing wearable technologies.

Overview: We're happy to have a great Halloween night with the INFORMS student chapter and other data science, operations research, and human factors enthusiasts!!! We enjoyed yummy pumpkin pie, candies and watched Harry Potter together.
🎉ASPIRE HFES International Annual Meeting @ Phoenix
When: Sep 9-13, 2024
Overview: UW student chapter attended the HFES Internation Annual Meeting at Phoenix AZ and shared their latest findings.
We are also glad to announce that UW student chapter won the Bronze Prize for the 2024 HFES
student chapter recognition. Congratulations!
🍕2024 Spring BBQ @ Ravenna Park
When: May 17th, 2024
Overview: UW Student Chapter and the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) co-hosted the spring BBQ at Ravenna Park. We invited all ISE, HFES, IISE and faculty members to join us and celebrate the whole successful school year.
Outdoor activities, beverages, pizza, and BBQ were provided.
🎒UW HFES Chapter Discovery Days Exhibition 💜
When: May 2nd - 3rd, 2024
Overview: At Engineering Discovery Days, we share our work with students, teachers, families and the community.
Both days are oriented toward 4th - 8th grade students and feature hands-on activities that demonstrate the exciting work of human factor engineers!!
🪟Microsoft Field Trip @Redmond Campus
When: April 4th, 2024
Overview: The HFES Student Chapter visited the corporate headquarters of Microsoft, located in Redmond, Washington!
The chapter explored the insides of the Human Factors lab and Scanning lab,
learning about the research process and technologies used at MS,
and had the opportunity to speak with human factors experts who shared their experiences.
🎉HFES 67th International Annual Meeting @Washington D.C.
When: Oct. 23rd -27th, 2023
Overview: The HFES Student Chapter won the bronze award for the 2023 HFES Student Chapter recognition!
The award was presented during the Student Reception. Congratulations!
[Guest Speaker Series] Dr. Denny Yu
When: Tuesday, Oct. 10th, 2023 3:00PM-4:00PM
Overview: The HFES Student Chapter met with Dr. Yu from Purdue University to discuss
research relating to physical ergonomics using physiological sensors.
✈️ The Boeing Company Field trip
When: Thursday, May 25th, 2023 9:00AM-3:00PM
Overview: The HFES Student Chapter visited Everett, WA to tour The Boeing Company's manufacturing facility. Human Factors professionals discussed their experience at Boeing and opportunities for students that were interested in getting involved with the company.
