Emily LeRoux-Rutledge is a Social Psychologist who studies migration. Her current research looks at the effects of ongoing violence in origin countries on the identity and wellbeing of diaspora groups — including South Sudanese and Somali. She also examines representations of refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants in the UK media. She convenes the annual Asylum Seeker and Refugee Wellbeing Conference at UWE in January, and sits on the selection committee for UWE's sanctuary scholarships. She is a volunteer with Refugee Women of Bristol. Prior to becoming an academic, she worked in International Development, and has conducted research in more than 25 countries. She has lived in Canada, Kenya, France, UK and Bangladesh.
