The Makerspace is a hands-on workspace for students, clubs and researchers across the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. It is designed to support learning, prototyping, fabrication and experimentation by providing access and training on professional-grade tools to bring ideas from concept to reality.
The ECSS administers FREE student locker allocation in the Engineering Lab Wing (ELW). If you are a UVic student (even one outside of engineering and computer science) you are welcome to use a personal locker provided the following conditions are met:
You provide your own lock: if you do not keep a lock on your registered locker, we will assume that you have abandoned it and reserve the right to issue it to another student without warning.
You do not store dangerous or illegal items in your locker.
You do not allow perishable food stored in your locker to rot.
You register your locker with us immediately after placing a lock on it.
Register your locker online*, or come by the office in ELW 206. Clubs are eligible on a case-by-case basis for storage in multiple lockers; please contact the ECSS for details.
* please email dirit@uvicecss.ca (include your name, UVic email, and desired locker number) if there is any problem.
Lockers in the Engineering Lab Wing will be available to register at the start of every semester. At the end of the semester, if you have a registered locker, it must be emptied and the lock removed OR the registration must be renewed for the next semester. If you do not renew your locker at the end of the semester, we will cut the lock and move any contents to storage.
DISCLAIMER: The lockers are located in buildings which students have 24-hour keycard access to, so use caution regarding storage of valuables. The ECSS takes no responsibility for the security of items stored in student lockers.
Sometimes a little extra help from others goes a long way.
For that reason, we have compiled a list of mental health resources for those who are struggling.
We encourage you to reach out to these organizations if you feel it is necessary.
