Texas 4-H serves youth ages 8–18 (grades 3–12) and is one of the largest youth development programs in the state, reaching hundreds of thousands of young people each year.
No matter where you live or what your interests are, 4-H offers opportunities to learn, grow, and become your best self through hands-on experiences and leadership development.
While many people first think of livestock, 4-H is much broader than animals. Members can explore a wide range of projects such as shooting sports, food and nutrition, healthy living, robotics, fashion and design, photography, and many other STEM and creative areas.
Clover Kids/Beginners: K - 2nd graders (Some projects limited to 1st - 2nd graders)

Intermediate: 6th, 7th, & 8th graders

The possibilities are endless, but a few of the activities Gillespie 4-Hers are involved with are:

Food & Nutrition

Entomology
Photography
Livestock Judging
Shooting Sports
Robotics
Horse
Plant ID / Range Judging
Dog (Companion Animal)
If you want to start a project of your own, just contact our 4-H Extension Agent, and we will be happy to provide you with whatever information that we can find.
One of the first steps for new families is choosing a 4-H club to join.
In Uvalde County, we offer community-based clubs where youth of all ages come together to participate in a variety of projects and activities. These clubs are open to all members and their families and provide a welcoming space to learn, grow, and get involved in 4-H.
Through club participation, youth have opportunities to build leadership skills, practice public speaking, and take on officer roles throughout their 4-H experience.
4-H clubs are designed to be family-oriented, and we encourage parents and guardians to be active participants rather than just drop-off and pick-up.

There is a $25.00 annual membership fee if you enroll by October 31st, and the membership fee increases to $30.00 if you enroll after October 31st, so it is to your advantage to enroll early!
