Lantern Fest Book Suggestions
What could be more UU than sharing a good book that helped you and/or your child to understand a messy or complicated piece of our collective past or present?
At Lantern Fest you'll find books for children or adults that you can borrow:
If you see a book you want to borrow, there will be a sheet of paper on a clipboard to give your information for requests.
Please leave the book at UUFCC until the UUFCC Lantern Fest UUseum concludes Sunday at 2 PM. Thank You.
Quick start instructions to find some festival books to borrow from UUFCC:
Click here to see a special collection of festival books set on a table at UUFCC.
Click here to see a 4- page pdf listing that includes children's books in the UUFCC library with topic: African American. This includes some picture book biographies in a series by Au: Adler.
The religious education committee Festival team developed a list and collection of high-quality books mainly to support the festival theme of learning to be better change agents through a deeper understanding of the stories of important civil rights-era people and events. The collection has books suitable for ages from pre-k to adult.
The collection also contains some children's books in two other thematic areas of the Imagine & Dream Lantern Festival: religious lantern festivals around the world and influential dreamers. These connect with other festival themes.
The collection offers especially good options for a parent or other adult to read and discuss a book with a child.
The UUFCC Religious Education Committee plans to have some printable reading lists available in the future.
