Raising awareness about ubiquitous technical surveillance involves educating individuals and organizations about its prevalence, risks, and implications. Some key points we identified are educating our population, engaging with your community, advocating for policy change, and developing tools to mitigate UTS.
.
Use social media, seminars, conventions, learning institutions, and subject matter experts to increase not only your knowledge but also the knowledge of those around you.
Join online groups or forums, or create a group of your own! Organize events, games, or other interactive ways to engage with your community and build awareness.
Change cannot happen without local and federal support. Advocate for policy changes that prevent selling location services or collateral telemetry data.
Develop yourself, your community, even tools or apps to help encrypt data or prevent ad tracking.
