The transitioning of all instruction online due to the COVID-19 pandemic acutely highlighted the lack of educational technology to support El Paso Community College faculty in the creation of instructional videos. While some faculty independently sought out technologies to support their efforts during the emergency transition, the current reality that online and hybrid instruction are to remain prevalent may require formal support on instructional video creation technology.
Full-time, part-time, and dual-enrollment faculty currently teaching at El Paso Community College, a 2-year public institution in El Paso, Texas.
The purpose of the technology needs assessment is to identify the faculty's available resources, constraints, and skills using educational technologies. We project that the technological needs assessments will provide us with an overview of the current support being provided and the faculty's overall experience as the end-user. We hope to create a way forward for faculty and improve the educational technology user experience at El Paso Community College.
