The committee is formed by the following students:

Aaron Benda

Hi, I’m Aaron. I’m a third year student interested in dynamics and geometry. I’m from just outside Washington, DC and I did my undergrad at the university of Maryland. In my free time, I like playing chess and rocket league. Always happy to chat, feel free to reach out!

Erin Bevilacqua

My name is Erin Bevilacuqa, and I'm a fourth year studying ergodic theory and measured group theory. I like to climb, play frisbee & sand volleyball, and explore Austin on my bike. My fourth year has made me a bit of a hermit, but I love getting to know the community so please feel free to reach out or find me in my office on the 13th floor!

Laney Bowden

I am a first year grad sutdent with interests in (applied) algebraic geometry. Before coming to Austin, I worked as a statistician and received my master's from the University of North Carolina. Outside of math, I can be found collecting various hobbies including songwriting, playing soccer, indoor gardening, and playing video/board games. Feel free to reach out at anytime or introduce yourself if we haven't had the opportunity to meet!

Elise Brod

I'm a second-year grad student and captain of SO(2), the math grad Ultimate frisbee team. I worked in industry for a couple years before starting grad school, and I went to a small liberal arts college, so I'm happy to talk about transitions in/out of industry or the experience of coming to a big school for the first time! I can often be found loitering in the lounge, and I'm happy to chat about anything that's on your mind.

Jacob Gaiter

I'm a second year grad student studying symplectic geometry and mirror symmetry and am broadly interested in mathematical physics and differential geometry. Outside of math, I enjoy photography, calligraphy, and playing the guitar. I'm always happy to chat!

Paulina Hoyos

I'm a third-year student in applied mathematics. My current research interests are geometric methods in data science and randomized algorithms in multilinear algebra. As a member of the GRC, my responsibilities include organizing math tea and keeping the lounge clean! As an international student, I understand the potential struggles of studying in a foreign country. Feel free to reach out to me; you’ll usually find me in the lounge!

Zach Richey

I'm a second-year grad student, studying stochastic analysis.  I love rock climbing, road trips, and camping, as well as hosting the math department parties.  If you haven't been yet, ask me about department board games night!
