To accurately measure these metrics and track them over time, the following data are needed:

Daily Testing Information (Withheld)
Hospitalizations
Recoveries
Epi-linked COVID-19
Student/Faculty Vaccinations
and historical data for each, at a minimum going back to when students arrived on campus, August 9th, 2020

The university defines a cluster as at least five positive cases and/or at least 20 close contacts as a result of one event or in one concentrated location.

Self-Isolations

The University of Tennessee monitors the number of self-isolations among its segments. Members of the campus community may be asked to self-isolate because they have received a positive COVID-19 test, are awaiting test results, have developed COVID-19 symptoms, or have been identified as a close contact of someone diagnosed with COVID-19. Self-isolation data is collected when students and employees complete the self-isolation form.

This chart shows the number of self-isolations per 10K for each segment. It is normalized by population so that variation in population size over segment is filtered out of the comparison.

The University of Tennessee monitors the reasons for Self-Isolation among its students (Residential and Non-Residential) and employees. Numbers are not reported on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Includes duplications, because people can select more than one reason
