The Academic Counselors Association (ACA) at The University of Texas at Austin was founded in 1983 by a small group of dedicated academic advisors who recognized the need for a unified professional community. Their goal was to foster collaboration, share best practices, and advocate for the evolving role of academic advising on campus.

Over the decades, ACA has grown into a robust network of over 200 advising professionals representing nearly every college, school, and unit at UT Austin. Through monthly meetings, professional development events, and committee work, ACA has become a cornerstone of the advising culture at the university.
