The Teacher Credentialing Programs are accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing located at 1900 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95811, and the Arizona Department of Education at 1535 W. Jefferson Street, Phoenix, AZ 85007.

The University, known initially as Inter American College, was founded by Dr. Reymundo Marin and Dr. Maria Viramontes de Marin. In 2009, Inter American College was accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and changed its status from non-profit to for-profit. In April 2010, the Board of Trustees voted to change the university’s name to United States University.
