Welcome to the USS SAN DIEGO (AFS-6) Web Site,

This site is dedicated to all shipmates that proudly served on board one of the finest ships in the fleet.  Our Motto, “The Best…A Name Not Given But Earned”, is truly fitting for our ship and shipmates, we were the best of the Mars Class Combat Supply Ships! 

Our goal in building this page is to provide a place for all shipmates to visit, reunite with former shipmates, meet new shipmates, see pictures and read about the history of “The Best”, visit the ship’s store and honor our fallen shipmates in the TAPS Section.  We will be building our page in phases, and ask for your thoughts and suggestions.  

While you are here, check out our ship’s roster and if you are not listed or if your information is not correct, please let us know who you are by providing your full name, years on board and your rate/rank when you left the ship, and email address.  We want to add you to our data base to include you with our announcements of reunions or special events.  Follow the “New Shipmate” Form directions to leave your information.  Your contact information will not appear on our web site and will not be provided to any other sources!

Honoring our fallen shipmates on our TAPS section is a way for us to remember them.  If you know of a shipmate that is not listed, please let us know their name, rate/rank, if they were a Plankowner, Commanding Officer, etc.
