Class Description

When pursuing higher spirituality along the mystical path of life, expect to UNlearn and RE-learn things that we were previously taught about life and the spiritual journey in the course of our human conditioning.

What to expect

An opportunity to learn the principles of “Contemporary Mysticism” and the practice of “Spiritual Contemplation”
An interaction between teacher and learner(s) using the format of an ongoing personal sharing and conversation about the Spiritual Journey
A “unitive” growth and development toward the experience or realization of “mystical oneness” resulting in —
- - Transcendence over humanhood or the human condition
  - Transformation into the divine mold of the Christ
Wholeness of being and total empowerment, individually as a class participant or collectively as a community or fellowship of mystics, through enlightenment of the human mind or illumination of the soul

“Contemporary Mysticism” as the course content

A 21^st century spirituality rooted in a transreligious mysticism that is pure and authentic and both nondual* and unitive**
A purposeful (directed) and meaningful (experiential) understanding of mystical oneness
A modern, radical, liberating and urgent understanding of the human condition from the perspective of contemporary times
The mystical tradition: teachers and their teachings, mystical literature, and other repositories of mystical teachings

“Spiritual Contemplation” as your practice process

Centering or grounding practices
Centering Prayer (Prayer of the Heart) as presented and taught by Fr. Thomas Keating, OCSO
Meditation practice (“contemplative meditation” in The Infinite Way, lectio divina or “contemplative prayer” in the Christian mystical tradition,
raja yoga in the Hindu mystical tradition, zazen in the Zen Buddhist tradition, “Entering the Silence” in Unity, “Practising the Presence of God” as contemplative affirmation)

Topics and areas of focused strategic learning^†

Living the Mystical Life as a spiritual lifestyle practice
Mystical Oneness as the conscious awareness of Being-ness and Self-hood
The Human Condition as evolving human consciousness or spiritual unfoldment
Problems of Duality as seen through knowing and understanding the nature of evil or error
Realized Christhood as total empowerment and healing

Purpose or goal: To EXPERIENCE (and thereby realize) your mystical union with God!
