Future of Tome and Bainbridge

Today Jacob Tome’s dream of quality education for local children continues at the Tome School in North East Maryland. The Tome School Campus once played an important role in private, vocational, and naval education, is now envisioned as a Continuous Care Retirement Community. This CCRC will utilize the existing granite structures by restoring them to their original grandeur. While creating new facilities using the Beaux Arts design which will accommodate 1,000 units at full build out. The CCRC while overlooking the Susquehanna River will provide the housing and health care needs of our growing senior population through multiple styles of units and levels of care.

Although NTC Bainbridge has been closed, the memories and legacy of it's history remain strong in the stories of those who served. The Bainbridge Museum continues to celebrate the rich and eventful past of the base and looks forward to maintaining its memory for future generations. The base property continues to be used on a regular basis for training and development by local businesses, and the Museum continues to have yearly base tours when allowed.
