Adults will have two choices on what to do during merit badge classes
Attend a merit badge class with their scouts. To do this, adults should go with their scouts to meet their merit badge councilor in T-Court. They will be escorted to the merit badge classroom with the scouts and will be able to observe the class.
Participate in a Midshipmen-led tour of the Naval Academy campus. This will include normal tourist attractions as well as areas of the Academy that are not generally open to the public such as our ship bridge simulators.
All merit badge classes will take place in areas of the Academy that are not open to the public, and all personal (scouts and adults) must be escorted at all times while in these areas. Unfortunately, this means that adults may not move between merit badges during the class, leave the class early, or arrive to the class late. If an issue arises with a scout and an adult from their troop is not present, then the troop leader will be contacted and an escort will be arranged.
There are no events scheduled for the scouts at USNA other than the Jamboree on Saturday.
The Naval Academy is also open to the general public from 9am-5pm daily, so troops can conduct their own, self guided, tours on Friday or Sunday. There are also guided tours available through the visitor center.
Interested troops can attend religious services aboard the academy on Sunday (Cathodic Mass at 0900 and Protestant Worship Service at 1100).
Troops can also attend performances by two extracurricular groups on the Yard, to include the Drum and Bugle Corps Spring Concert, taking place in Mahan Hall from 1900 to 2100 on April 25th, as well as a performance by the Masqueraders on April 27th at 1500 in Mahan Courtyard.
On Friday, April 25th at 1600, the Brigade will conduct a formal parade on Worden Field. All troops are welcome to view the parade. Be aware that troops will have to enter the Naval Academy on their own, through the Visitor's center and make their own way to Warden Field.
The Annapolis Sailboat show will be taking place during April 25-27. Be aware that this takes place just outside of Gate 1, the Visitor's center. Downtown Annapolis will be very busy, particularly around this area and traffic will be much heavier than normal.
The Naval Academy is about 45 minutes away from both Washington DC and Baltimore.
The mention of any of these attractions does not imply an endorsement by the DoD, DON, or the USNA.
