40th MKF - timeline

Everyone has their own story and this is a story of a drummer. “Our Drummer Story” narrates the drummers’ growth experience, it shows the development of drummers learning drum music theory, physical training, percussion method, drum set and tacit understanding of everything as a whole. 

In the eyes of the spectators, the performance spectated shows the drummers success on stage and that is a reflection of all the accumulated behind-the-scene efforts leading up to that point. Drummers have braced through a twisty journey filled with bittersweet memories to showcase their best on stage. Some overlooking this might think this looks easy but there is an old saying, “put yourself in someone’s shoes” in order to understand them. 

Drumming as a team is the essential skill that drummers struggle to figure out and master; every synchronised movement is the outcome of the strenuous effort put into trainings; every consistent rhythm is the understanding that developed through cooperation and coordination among drummers. There is an old saying “Ten minutes of brilliant performance on-stage comes from ten years of hard work off-stage”. There is no shortcut to achieve perfection in a performance. We would like to show you the fun, the joy and the story of our drum team through “Our Drummer Story”.

在生活上,每个人都拥有属于他们自己的故事,而“我们的鼓事”所呈现的,则是一个属于鼓手们的故事。“我们的鼓事”叙述着鼓手们成长的经历,描绘了鼓手们学习鼓谱乐理、体能训练、学习敲击法、复习鼓法和配合默契的过程。

一般来说,观众们往往只能看见鼓手们在台前的挥洒演出,而看不见他们在台后的付出。或许在一些人眼里,鼓手们在台上的呈现看似简单而轻松,似乎不需要经历什么严苛的训练。然而,每一个一致性的敲击,都是鼓手们费劲精力去琢磨并掌握的技巧;每一个一致性的动作,都是鼓手们费尽体力去训练而成的成果;每一个一致性的节奏,都是鼓手们费劲时间去相互配合而成的默契。俗语说得好:“台上一分钟,台下十年功”,每一场台上的表演皆是如此,而鼓手们的表演也不例外。让鼓手们通过“我们的鼓事”来告诉您一个属于鼓手们的故事。

From the differences, we learn. From the similarities, we earn. From one thought develop into perseverance, we cry, we smile, we fight, and we walk in single motion. At the last page of a story, the reward, is a harmonious fusion. “Fusion” is an inclusion of various difference but similar types of rhythms, hitting techniques, and drum formation with different actions to complement the harmonious drum beats. “Fusion” is a portrayal of a drum team where passion and dedication towards drum bring together members from diverse background and races. 

Although this drum set is formed from different rhythms, they are able to form unanimous beats. Although the team consists of members from various background and races, they are united as one. These are made possible through nurturing mutual understanding and fostering team spirit. 

Malaysia is a country that upholds the concept of “Satu Malaysia” (One Malaysia). Citizens from various races, ethnicities, religions, cultures, and ideologies are able to live harmoniously in a country for more than half a century. Harmony plays a vital role in a country stability and it is the source of power and pride of society growth. We would like to show case the pride of Malaysia through “Fusion”!

何谓相异?“相”的含义为“同样”以及“相同”,代表着相似的鼓 法;而“异”的意思则是“不同”以及“有差别”,代表着不同的鼓法 与不一样的节奏。 这套鼓法包含了各种相似但却又不一样的节奏,敲击 方式以及鼓阵并结合了不同的动作,来呈现出和谐的鼓声。相异恰恰好 形容了一支鼓队。虽然鼓友来自于不同的背景及种族,但是对于鼓,他 们都有着一样的热血,一样的激情以及一样的执着。 

虽然鼓法有着不同的节奏,但却可以表现出一致的鼓声,这衬托出虽然 鼓友们来自于不同的背景及种族,但却可以团结于一支鼓队,齐心地完 成这场表演。当鼓手们表演着这套鼓法时,鼓队的团队精神也慢慢培养 了鼓友们之间的互相了解。他们学会了包容,学会了分享,也学会了如 何不分你我。 

马来西亚 是 一个秉持着 “一个大马” 概念的国家,让各种民族、宗 教信仰、文化与思想可以生活在一个国家,甚至超过了一半的世纪,而 各种族的和谐则是一个国家成长的基石。它是力量,它是动力,它也是 社会成长的骄傲。鼓手们将通过“相异”来让你了解马来西亚的骄傲!
