The Artist Guild is a student organization on the Hattiesburg Campus of the University of Southern Mississippi that was created so anyone at Southern Miss would have a place to meet to share in the joy of creation. We pride ourselves on connecting artists and art lovers together through special art-related activities.
We understand how difficult being an artist can be starting out so we incorporate other activities such as guest speakers, sales, and discussions to help our members gain professional skills to take with them post-grad.
Community is very important to a student in college. Finding your place in the world is what college is all about. The Artist Guild has built a place for people to come together and enjoy creating. We host activities like:
Make a flower for your valentine
Follow along: Bob Ross paint night
Shrinky Dinks! Keychains and Earrings
Crochet Night partnered with Creative Collective
Pumpkin decoration contest
Throw Down: a pottery throwing competition
We believe it is important to experience art in as many ways as possible, and one of those ways is seeing art in a museum. This exposes members to new artists, mediums, and conceptual practices surrounding art. Every semester we take a trip to a nearby museum to give our members this experience at a lower cost to them than if they went on their own.
Previous galleries/museums include:
New Orleans Museum of Art and Sculpture Garden (New Orleans, LA)
Lauren Rogers Museum of Art (Laurel, MS)
Mississippi Museum of Art (Jackson, MS)
Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art (Biloxi, MS)
Walter Anderson Museum of Art (Ocean Springs, MS)
Community members
Being a community member of the Artist Guild means you get email notifications of when we are having sales and public events that we invite you to come take part in. We greatly value our members of the community that support us. We could not do what we do without you. Your support by shopping with us at our sales does not go unnoticed. We are 100% owned and operated by students at Southern Miss and are always learning ways to better our craft and our service. Thank you.
