MA386 Course Description

This course is designed to enhance the ability of each cadet to reason scientifically, solve quantitative problems numerically, and communicate results. Key topics in MA386 include error analysis, interpolation, polynomial approximation, numerical differentiation and integration, extrapolation, and stability. In each of these areas, we design the course to teach you new math skills while reinforcing old ones, promote your conceptual understanding of mathematics, and enhance your math modeling and problem solving abilities. The specific sections covered in each block, listed in this document, support these goals. We will cover chapters 1 – 5 of our course textbook.
