What are the three types of rocks, and how do they vary in texture? How do artists show texture in painting?
ABSTRACT
Students will learn the three types of rocks and the different characteristics of each. Students will make observations to compare rock textures and learn how texture can be used in art. Observation skills will be used to create a scale painting with texture of a rock sample.

This will demonstrate a new approach and a paradigm shift in thinking. It offers a compelling argument for doing things differently, in order to accomplish meaningful, systematic, long-term change that ensures high levels of success. I have no doubt that change will come gradually, beginning with the tangible, and embracing whatever is required to improve learning. Learners will also be driven by self-directed learning, collaborative learning, acquiring competencies, self-assessments to analyse their skills, as well as peer assessments, and various non-traditional ways of learning, such as project-based, problem-based, or case study-based learning, to increase students' understanding. While developing the module, I will also consider introducing or involving openness in terms of open access, open pedagogy, open resources, open license, and open source as well. Hence this designed course considers the learning environment, a student-centered approach as well as facilitating learning. As such developing an open education solution that best fits the learner’s needs while focusing on promoting quality learning. With that in mind, below will further discuss and classify the concepts that will help the reader understand. Here you have the guidelines for the teachers and anyone who wishes to follow the minicourse on Rock Painting.
Learning Manegement System
The LMS used for this minicourse is Class Dojo, which is suitable for the target group of 8-9 years old, Grade 4.
Platform
In order to experiment with progressive learning, and ensure that we have a healthy learning environment we must carefully select the learning platform., and here considering the needs of the students as well as their level, age-appropriate, and ability to cope online, the platform Class Dojo is ideal.
Class Dojo
Class Dojo is an online educational tool intended to foster positive student behaviors and classroom culture. Teachers use Class Dojo to promote positive behaviors in their classroom and to strengthen lines of communication between school and home. Teachers use Class Dojo to keep parents up to date on student progress and classroom happenings. Class Dojo is completely free for users.

Students will explore texture of various objects, including rocks, and use words to describe texture (including geology terms).
Students will identify texture and scale in art.
Students will incorporate texture and scale into an observational painting of a rock sample.
See attached plan.
At the start of the program, they will be given the rubric which will be used as an evaluation tool to guide them towards the expectation, objectives, and standards and measure their attainment with a consistent set of criteria. This will evaluate their measurable outcomes.
